A Lib Dem council that has kept its promises

Over the last four years the Liberal Democrats have been running Cardiff Council. Since taking over, the Liberal Democrats have fought hard to turn key services around. We have improved social services after they were rated as the worst in England and Wales under Labour. We have become one of the highest spenders in schools in Wales. We have invested heavily in cleaning our streets and given every home a free recycling service. And we have kept council tax rises to an average of only 3% a year!

Action 1

Lib Dems have worked with the police to fund extra Police Community Support Officers.

The Lib Dems are setting up a new 24/7 noise nuisance team, and two new squads to tackle fly posting and graffiti.

Action 2

Free recycling has now been rolled out across Cardiff by the Lib Dems. Under Labour residents had to pay!

Under the Lib Dems Cardiff's recycling rate has doubled and they are planning new collections for food waste to increase this even further.

Action 3

The Lib Dems cut the number of top paid councillors, and cut their pay by 10%.

They have refused all pay increases for four years.
