LIB DEMS CALL FOR SMALLER CLASS SIZES12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Sat 28th Apr 2007
The Welsh Lib Dems have repeated their calls for a maximum class size of 25 for primary schools. When the Lib Dems were in government with Labour in 2002, Labour agreed to cut all primary class sizes to a maximum of 25. But since they have been running Wales on their own, Labour have gone back on their word. Lib Dem Assembly candidate, Ed Bridges, told us: "Smaller class sizes mean more teacher time for each pupil. The Welsh Lib Dems will work to get 25 as the maximum class size for all primary classes." The Lib Dems have also pledged to carry out the urgent school repairs which Labour promised but have since abandoned.
