Hailey Park proposals - Cardiff's Lib Dems to listen again on skate park plans12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 8th Jul 2007
Cardiff's Lib Dem council has listened to the views of residents over proposals for youth facilities at Hailey Park. Residents will remember that the council planned to invest in an adventure park for the area. After local residents expressed concerns over some aspects of the scheme, the plans have been withdrawn. Local Lib Dem, Jacqui Hooper, said: "I am pleased that the council has listened to the views of the majority on the issue. Once again, our Lib Dem council has shown a willingness to take part in meaningful consultation." The Llandaff North Focus Team has re-asserted a desire to improve youth facilities for all of Llandaff North ward in the long term to meet the need for better youth provision. Local Lib Dem councillor, Ann Rowland-James, said: "While the current scheme may not be wholly acceptable, it is clear that young people in our area need better facilities. We will be working over the coming months to find out what local people want to see done in the area so that facilities can be improved in line with the wishes of local residents."
