Heath Lib Dems work for Maes-y-Coed Road speed reduction measures12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Sat 14th Jul 2007
Liberal Democrats in Heath ward are keeping up the pressure for the introduction of a speed camera on Maes-y-Coed Road. New signs reminding motorists of the 30mph speed limit have already been erected, and these could help pave the way for speed cameras. Local Lib Dems have once again asserted its commitment to working to reduce traffic speeds in the area, and have given their backing to calls for speed cameras for the road. Heath councillor and local resident, Jim James, said: "We are continuing to press for a permanent camera to be installed. With a school so close by, traffic speeds need to be reduced now before there are any more nasty accidents." Cllr. Michelle Michaelis added: "Ultimately, the decision is down to the local Speed Camera Partnership rather than the council, but we will do all we can to ensure the views of residents on the issue are properly represented."
