A new shopping centre for our area: The Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn Focus Team know the new Maelfa shopping centre will regenerate the surrounding area and bring shoppers back to Llanedeyrn.

Cardiff's Liberal Democrat controlled council has submitted plans to build a new Maelfa shopping centre in Llanedeyrn.

The council has been looking at a variety of options with local residents and businesses to replace the current shopping centre.

The proposed redevelopment will include a new shopping parade, new community facilities, including a new library and police station, and a mix of new homes.

Local campaigner Councillor Paul Chaundy said, "The current shopping centre used to provide almost every service our community needed, but loads of businesses have left and many residents have to travel to Albany Road and Wellfield Road instead.

"The new Maelfa shopping centre will transform Llanedeyrn and bring businesses back to our area."

The Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn Focus Team will let you know how the planning application progresses and will keep you updated on any developments with the new Maelfa shopping centre.
