No to Bingo Hall development!

11.54.00am GMT Wed 5th Mar 2008

The local Liberal Democrat Focus Team are backing residents and fighting plans to convert the Bingo Hall on the corner of Agate Street and Pearl Street into 46 flats.

The plans, which have been submitted to Cardiff Council, include demolishing the existing Bingo Hall building 46 flats on the site providing only 14 car parking spaces for these flats on the site.

Local campaigner Cllr Nigel Howells said, "These proposals are a total over development of the site. There's bound to be many more cars associated with this development than the 14 spaces provided. These will no doubt be parked in Agate Street, Diamond Street and Pearl Street making it more difficult for residents in these streets to be able to park near to their homes."

Unacceptable development

Councillor John Dixon added, "Four storeys of flats will dwarf existing homes in the area. This development will only make the quality of life worse for local residents."
